Where: Ripple Connection Support Centre in Barrhead

Details: This is a program offered through Alberta Health Services. It’s offered to any adult living with mental health concerns and their support people. This six-series workshop will help you discover strategies and plan changes to help you live healthier.

Details:  Do you have any new or used coats, ski pants, gloves, or toques to donate?  OR do you need a coat, ski pants, gloves, or toques?  You can drop them off or pick them up at the FCSS offices in Westlock!

Event: Caregiver Connection Night

Details: Monthly meeting for family, friends and caregivers of individuals living with mental illness. Families come together to share experience, strength and hope, with education and social networking.

Event:  Ripple Connection Support Centre

Details:  The Ripple Connection Support Centre is a non-profit drop-in centre for families and individuals living with mental illness.  They provide caregivers and persons living with mental illness support by promoting life-management skills, education, and social networking.  Some of their programs include their referral services, the daily “Warm Your Heart Lunch,” and soul sharing.

Event:  Alzheimers & Dementia Support Group

Details:  The Alzheimer’s Society of Alberta and NWT shares information on the difference between dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, practical tips to help you and those with the disease have better quality of life, and answer any questions you may have.

Dates:   First Tuesday of  every month.

Event:  Barrhead Drop In Care Partner Support Group

Date and Time:  The third Wednesday of every month, at 7PM. No meeting in December

Time:  7 PM

Place:  Dr. W. R. Keir – Barrhead Continuing Care Centre (5336 59 Ave)
Details:  This new Care Partner Support Group is designed for family members who want to meet others to share experience, to learn new information, to receive peer support and to help each other cope more effectively.  The support group is open to all family members and care partners of someone with Alzheimer’s Disease or related dementias.

Event:  Barrhead Public Library Preschool Programs

Details:  Monday morning at 11AM is Mommy & Me, for toddlers and babies under the age of 2.  They enjoy stories, songs, and rhyming, and having a fun play time.  Wednesdays at 11AM is Time for Tots, where preschoolers enjoy stories, songs, and crafts.  And Fridays at 11AM is Story Time for preschoolers.  Don’t forget, a parent or grandparent must attend with the child.

Event:  Tractor Talk Time

When:  The first Tuesday of every month, starting at 9AM

Where:  The Canadian Tractor Museum in Westlock

Details:  Head down to the Canadian Tractor Museum for this fascinating new program.  Every month, a special guest speaker will be talking about some of the tractors in the museum’s collection and answering your questions.

Tickets:  No charge for the program, but donations to the museum will always be gratefully accepted.
